6 Clever Ways To Hide Your Cat’s Litterbox

Cats are very popular pets, and with good reason. Fluffy is cute, cuddly, and lovable. She’s also very clean and independent. Although the fact that your kitty will use a litterbox to relieve herself makes caring for her much easier, your pet’s powder room won’t do much for your décor. This is particularly an issue with small spaces. We are here to help! Read on as a local Riverbend, ON vet offers some suggestions on hiding Fluffy’s litterbox.

Upcycled End Table

Get an end table with doors, and cut a hole in one side for your feline buddy to get in and out of. Put the litterbox inside, and use the doors for access. You can also put a pet-safe plant on top, which will also help battle smells. Check the ASPCA site here for a full directory of nontoxic plants.

Folding Screen

An attractive folding screen is also a great way to hide Fluffy’s bathroom. Position it kitty corner, leaving enough room for your cat to access it. You may want to hang thick plastic sheets on the back to protect it. If possible, put a pet-safe plant nearby, to help with both smell and aesthetics.

Storage Tote/Bench

Wicker storage benches can be a very attractive option. As with the end table, you’ll need to cut a hole for Fluffy. Just make sure there are no sharp splinters or edges sticking out. You can also do this with an old desk or buffet. Storage totes are also handy this way. These aren’t as attractive, but you can use stencils, stickers, paint, or contact paper to dress them up a bit. Plus, a tote will be easy to replace when it gets worn out.

Custom Pieces

You can also look into getting a piece that was specifically made to hide litterboxes. These may cost a bit more than the other options we’ve listed, but they are both attractive and sturdy, and make good long -term investments. Look online for specific options.

Drapery

Another option is to get an end table or coffee table with legs. Put the litterbox beneath it, and drape an attractive fabric over the top. Just arrange it so your feline friend can get in and out easily.
