7 Things To Do With Your Dog This Summer

Summer is just around the corner. This may very well be Fido’s favorite time of year! After all, your pooch gets to run and play outside, and sniff lots of grass! Read on as a London, ON vet lists some things to put on your pup’s summer agenda.

Visit A Park

Many of our canine patients absolutely love going to parks. This is a great way for Fido to enjoy a change of scenery and play with his friends. Stoney Creek, Pottersburg, and Greenway dog parks all have off-lease areas. Why not hit them all?

Go For A Swim

Swimming season goes by all too quickly here in the north. Enjoy it while you can! If your pooch likes the water, take him to a dog-friendly pool or swimming hole. Or, you can also just let Fido splash around in a kiddie pool, or play in the water from a hose or sprinkler.

Enjoy A Snack

Who doesn’t love a cold treat on a hot day? Buy or make Fido some doggy ice cream. Pupsicles, which are treats or kibble frozen in water or sodium-free broth, will also get that tail going. Your pup may also enjoy some cold sodium-free broth.

Smell The Roses

Dogs are living, breathing, tail-wagging reminders of the importance of appreciating the little things. Explore a new trail with your canine buddy, and just take in some pretty scenery.

Dine Out

Take your pooch to a dog-friendly cafĂ©, and let him enjoy a special snack. Of course, Fido would also be happy with a plain cheeseburger from a drive-through. (Note: you shouldn’t give your dog cheeseburgers all the time. However, the occasional one won’t hurt.)

One of Fido’s most adorable qualities is the fact that he is so playful. Spend some time tossing a ball or Frisbee for your furry best friend. This is a great way for Fido to get his workout in. Plus, it will be fun for you, too. It’s hard not to chuckle when watching dogs hard at play!

Life is quite hectic for many of us these days. It’s important to just slow down and enjoy yourself. Carve out a mini-staycation, or just take a day to relax at home with your four-legged pal.
