Our Veterinarians

Dr. Gillian Egli
Growing up, Gillian was always intrigued by medicine and how bodies work. This, combined with a deep love for all animals, showed her at an early age that the veterinary world was the only future for her!

After graduating high school in Stratford, Ontario, Gillian headed to the University of Guelph. After two years of undergraduate studies in Biomedical sciences, she was accepted to Ontario Veterinary College, graduating in 2004. Her career started in mixed animal practice, eventually migrating to emergency medicine. Although she found emergency care thrilling, Dr. Egli wanted to spend more time with her growing family, so she came to Oakridge in 2010. In 2012 she came on full time, and couldn’t be happier working with the wonderful staff and adorable pets!

Dr. Egli lives on a farm north of London. Her husband Dan is a swine producer. Their daughter Julia has started school, and can occasionally be seen as a veterinarian-in-training at Oakridge. Their son Adrian likes to spend time in the barn with his dad, and the family’s newest addition, Nicola, is still a bit young to see where her interests lie.

Dr. Egli has a Golden Retriever named Oliver, a Saint Bernard puppy named Heidi, and a barn cat named Allie. Her family also has three horses: Dasher, a copper thoroughbred that Dr. Egli met the day after he was born; Bella, a Shire/Canadian cross; and Butterscotch, a gentle pony.

In addition to spending quality time with her family and pets, Gillian also loves running and horseback riding. She’ll also take any excuse to travel!
Dr. Shannon Moffatt
Growing up in the London area, Dr. Moffatt was always surrounded by many different kinds of animals and always cherished her connection with them. Many years later when she decided to become a veterinarian, she thought back on those times and knew it was the right career path for her!

After completing her Honours BSc in Physiology at Mount Allison University in 1999, Shannon returned to Ontario to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps at Ontario Veterinary College. With a special interest in critical care, Dr. Moffatt came home to London and spent many years honing her diagnostic and surgical skills at the London Veterinary Emergency Clinic. In 2012, she joined the Oakridge team.

As a vet, Dr. Moffatt enjoys the challenge of diagnostic medicine, the necessary skills of surgery, and continually working with family members to provide the best possible wellness for their furry family members. She’s also recently developed an interest in dentistry and plans to continue her education in acupuncture and other alternative medicine techniques.

Shannon shares her home with her husband Mark, who is her biggest supporter. They have two children: Matt, six, and Claire, four, who both share their mother’s love of animals. The family has two cats, Jelly and Peach, and a new rescue poodle mix named Pepper. Pepper was adopted as a stray and has fit well into her family. Pepper is adored by her children.

Dr. Moffatt says her greatest joy comes from spending time with her family, but she also enjoys reading and hiking. She also considers herself a novice fitness enthusiast with lofty goals of completing a Tough Mudder challenge in the near future.
